CANDICE: WINNER OF AMERICAN IDOL
Candice Glover is the queen of American Idol's 12th season as the R&B performer became the first woman in six years to win the Fox singing competition.The 23-year-old from St. Helena Island, S.C., won the viewer vote over country singer Kree Harrison, 22, in what was Idol's second all-female finale and the first since Season 3.Glover, who had auditioned twice before, in Seasons 9 and 11, said afterward, "I'm happy I came back, and that I was determined enough and it finally paid off."She said she was "speechless. ... Part of me is so happy that it happened, and part of me is relieved that I don't have to sing for votes and worry about making it to the next round, because that's such a stressful process. But I know the work is only going to get bigger from here on out."Harrison said she felt as if "Candice and I, we were almost too calm, because we already feel like we've made it. I'm so proud of her, and so proud of myself." And she said she told Glover, "'If you win, you'd better sing your butt off,' and she did. Singing when you're crying is probably the hardest thing in the world to do, and she killed it."Glover, who performed her first single, I Am Beautiful, for the coronation, said: "I love it. I connect with it because of the words, and that's part of the reason I was crying."When the two of them were awaiting the decision, Glover says, "the whole time we were up there, I was telling her I love her no matter what. I was rooting for Kree, and she was rooting for me, so we were just happy either way."Many consider Glover and Harrison one of Idol's better finals duos of recent years. Both outlasted third-place finisher Angie Miller, an earlier favorite who also has received much praise for her talents as a singer.Women held the upper hand in Season 12's final round, with all five female finalists outlasting their five male counterparts. They helped reverse a trend that had seen five consecutive male winners since Jordin Sparks' victory in Season 6.But the season was a tumultuous one for Idol, with viewership for the longtime No. 1 show dropping more than 20% for the second year in a row. It began the season with three new judges — Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban — and ended with the fourth judge, original panelist Randy Jackson, announcing he was leaving the show amid speculation that a larger overhaul may be planned.Asked at a news conference after the show whether he'd return for Season 13, Urban replied: "I have no idea. All I know is that there's talk about it and, for me, I'm in the studio literally this week finishing up my album and putting a tour together, and I hit the road in July. Onward."

O.J. claims Galanter knew about his plan to retrieve the memorabilia from the 2 memorabilia collectors ... and advised O.J. not to take the stand in his defense so he wouldn't name Galanter as a witness Simpson was famously grilled on the stand in the 1996 civil trial when he was found liable for killing Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman -- but he's never spoken under oath in a criminal case.So, this will be interesting.
