Candlelighters of Southwest Florida Inc. presents

16th ANNUAL GOLD RIBBON CLASSIC GOLF TOURNAMENT

To Benefit Local Children with Cancer & Blood Disorders”

Saturday, September 25, 2010

The Bonita Bay Club

Candlelighters 16th Annual Gold Ribbon Classic Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, September 25th at The Bonita Bay Club, 26660 Country Club Drive, Bonita Springs. This is the charities major fundraiser which provides the necessary dollars to support local children with Cancer or Blood Disorders.  The children and their families are able to attend free of charge special events and family activities they may otherwise be unable to afford as well as the much needed support throughout their child’s diagnosis.

Candlelighters Golf Tournament is open to the public, we are currently seeking various sponsorships including title sponsors; beverage carts, holes, golfers and other opportunities ranging from $100—$10,000.  We encourage and welcome your support of this seasoned and professionally run event.

Advance registration is required as there is limit on the number of players accepted.  Your $150 per golfer fee includes a round of golf on one of Florida’s most prestigious golf course, practice balls, goodie bags for each player, buffet lunch and awards presentation immediately following play.

Check in begins at 8 am followed by a shotgun start at 9 am. There are fun games on the course as well as a chance to win some great raffle prizes.

In addition, you can help by furnishing the charity with gift certificates, gift items to be used for a raffle or gather up items for the golfers goodie bags, it’s a great way for your business to receive free advertisement and let the community know you care about the special needs of children living in Southwest Florida.

ABOUT CANDLELIGHTERS:

The independent charity (501c3) was established over twenty– seven years ago and continues to be the

primary provider of essential programs and services which help families of children with cancer and blood disorders.  We provide services to Lee, Collier, Hendry, Glades and Charlotte Counties.  The Candlelighters understand parents of children with cancer are often young with limited income.  They must juggle home, work and the needs of other children in the household as well as be available to the newly diagnosed child for hospital and doctor visits. This is why the services we provide are available at no cost to the families.

Candlelighters is a special organization that plays a critical role in each families life.  To hear a parent say how much their family enjoyed an event where they could talk to other parents or for a child who months later recalls his great adventure aboard a pirate ship, it helps us to realize Candlelighters IS a glimmer of hope among the uncertainty.  Learn more about the charity or download information on the golf event log

Lee and Charlotte Communities to Help Create a World with Less Breast Cancer and

More Birthdays at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Event

WHAT:

Over 3500 of local breast cancer survivors, volunteers, businesses and community members will unite to fight breast cancer and save lives at the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5k walk. This noncompetitive, inspirational event raises awareness and funds to fight breast cancer and provides hope to all people facing the disease. Lee County’s Making Strides walk is one of more than 165 walks being held across the country this year.

More than 12,000 women in Florida will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year, and more than 2,700 will die from the disease. Funds raised through Making Strides will help the American Cancer Society save lives and create more birthdays by helping people stay well by taking steps to prevent cancer or find it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking research; and by fighting back by encouraging lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight.

WHEN:

October 23, 2010

Registration starts at 7:15am

Survivor registration and breakfast starts at 7:00am

The walk begins at 8:15am
