If you’re looking to boost your daily workouts, here’s a trick to try: sip a cup of coffee before you hit the gym.

New findings show that having a boost of caffeine before you start pumping iron can lead you to have a more productive workout.

In a study, exercisers were broken down into two groups. One group was given a caffeine pill before beginning a workout, while the other wasn’t. The people were also examined based on their normal coffee consumption habits. The results? Exercisers who took a caffeine pill before beginning pedaled 3.3 percent faster on an exercise bicycle than those who didn’t consume caffeine prior to their workout.

This boost applied to both consistent coffee drinkers and those who don’t normally sip a cup of joe in the morning.

If you’re looking to add some pep to your step while you’re working out, it might be worth it to swing by your local coffee shop on your way over to the gym.
