Fans mourn Aretha Franklin at gospel-infused public viewing
Fans Flock to Aretha Franklin’s Viewing Fans from across the country came out by the thousands to get a chance to pay their respects to the ‘Queen of Soul’ Aretha Franklin as the public viewing begins before her funeral on Friday.
People came to Detroit’s Charles H. Wright Museum for African American History from as far as Las Vegas and Miami to bow their heads and blow kisses to the Queen. Franklin, who’s placed in a gold-plated casket, is dressed in red from top to bottom. Museum board member Kelly Major Green says the goal of the museum was to create a dignified and respectful environment similar to a church, the place where Aretha began.
