Mom in Court for Taking Phone From Daughter A Grandville, Michigan mother was taken to court after she took a cell phone from her daughter in an attempt to discipline her for bad behavior at school. Jodie May’s ex-husband told police that he owned the phone and that May stole the phone. She was then arrested and immediately released on $200 bond. May was charged with a second crime before her bench trail of larceny by conversion, she had already been charged with larceny under $200, both charges are punishable with up to 93 days in jail. During the trial prosecutors approached the bench with a new story in the case, May told them that the phone wasn’t owned by her ex-husband, he daughter owned the phone. Charges were then dropped against May.
