Netflix has pulled production of a new series out of North Carolina because of the state’s law called House Bill 2.
The series, called OBX, was to be set in the creator’s hometown of Wilmington, NC but is considering moving the show to nearby South Carolina instead. The bill in question says that trans people are barred from using the restroom that coincides with their gender identity, went into effect in North Carolina in 2016.
The bill also states that municipalities can’t enact nondiscrimination ordinances that cover a group not included in the law, and that’s the part that has the creator looking elsewhere for the new series.
What do you think of Netflix’ stance in North Carolina?
North Carolina may lose a show set in its Outer Banks, but that's the price of hate. https://t.co/z050JYfiiy
