You may remember the heartbreaking story of the dog, a male Florida Cur, found in Lehigh Acres with his mouth taped shut.
But in case you don't here is the original post from the Lee County Sheriff's Office:
"On Tuesday, February 26, 2019, Lee County Domestic Animal Services received a call from a concerned citizen in Lehigh Acres. The dog, a male Florida Cur, was found roaming through backyards on the 3200 block of 42nd Street SW.
The dog’s mouth had been taped shut using red electrical tape. The dog was panting, drooling and reportedly suffocating. The dog was dehydrated, appeared malnourished and was bleeding from wounds on his left arm and chest." (Read the entire post here)

The Florida Cur was given the name Chance.
"The Lee County Sheriff's Office has received an incredible number of inquiries asking about the condition of and the prognosis for "Chance," the Florida Cur found with his snout taped tightly shut.
Sheriff Carmine Marceno found a few moments, this morning, to walk next door to Lee County Domestic Animal Services to say hello to Chance.
Chance is progressing wonderfully! He has gained weight, his wounds are healing nicely and he is beginning to trust select people.
Heartfelt thanks to the remarkable staff at LCDAS for the love and care that they are giving to Chance!"

The Lee County Sheriff's Office is seeking community assistance in an attempt to identify the dog’s owner. Sheriff Carmine Marceno, an avid animal lover, stated that, "He will not tolerate animal abuse" and in a video message posted to Facebook, "If you duct tape a dog's mouth shut there's only one place for you and that's jail."
The owner has yet to be found, and the reward for finding the dog's owner has now increased to over $14,000 with help of donations.
