A Massachusetts Congresswoman wants to see the federal voting age lowered to 16 years old.
On Thursday, Rep. Ayanna Pressley introduced an amendment to lower the legal voting age from 18 to 16, saying that "young people are leading the way" and "deserve to have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote". Pressley also pointed out that some states including Massachusetts allow 16 and 17-year-olds to pre-register to vote.
The amendment would be added to H.R.1 voting rights bill being considered by House Democrats.
Do you agree with lowering the voting age to 16? How old were you when you started paying attention to politics?
