The anonymous winner of the biggest jackpot payout in US history knows what she is going to do with the money.
She will share it with charity. Buying the ticket last October, the woman won $1.5 billion, opting to take the $878 million in a lump sum earlier this month. According to her lawyer on Thursday, she wishes her name to remain a secret, saying she prefers to "live a life of relative normalcy, free of fear." The earnings will be spread around local groups including the City of Simpsonville Art Center, Ronald McDonald House, a charity that helps women undergoing breast cancer treatment, plus the Red Cross for their Alabama hurricane relief efforts.
