The waitress, Maria Elena Barragan, was told to come outside by regulars David and Sheila Harrison while she was working a double shift. "They pulled up some seats at the table and told me how much they appreciated me,"
Maria recalled. "Then they presented me with a gift bag." In the bag were papers and keys to the Buick which at first Maria declined, then Davis asked her to take it because "God led him to do it."
