Several character meet and greet locations at Disney World are now using automated photo pass cameras instead of an attendant and reactions are not good.
More unhappy guests have taken to social media to voice their displeasure.
@WDWToday @WDWGuestService @Disney @WaltDisneyWorld @DisneyParks The news of the automated cameras replacing the PhotoPass photographers in the Mickey & Minnie meet & greet is terrible! The auto camera won’t get a pic of my kid hugging Mickey as he is greeted by Mickey and Minnie— whinnfjord (@Whinnfjord) September 16, 2019
@DisneyParks @WaltDisneyWorld replacing amazing Photopass CMs with automated boxes is awful. You are slowly taking away the magical moments that make character experiences so great. You also are giving me one more reason to NOT buy Memory Maker.— Joseph Marrella (@JMarrella) September 13, 2019
What the problem is, is the automation. When you enter a room, an attendant will guide you in the experience. The automated camera will then take a picture every 3 to 5 seconds and upload the pictures to your MyDisneyExperience account via your Magic Band. I can’t see how this is a better experience than a trained professional.
