Deputy Robert Pounds of the Collier County sheriff’s office is receiving a lot of positive press after helping a woman in labor on the side of the road.
Dep. Robert Pounds observed a car doing 63 mph in a 45 mph zone on Airport-Pulling Road around 4:30 a.m. this morning, so he stopped the vehicle.
As he walked up to the car he quickly realized the passenger was in labor. Deputy Pounds called for EMS, then grabbed a blanket. He then assisted in the delivery of a baby girl. EMS then arrived, cut the cord, and transferred mom and baby to the hospital.
