A 7-year-old Texas boy temporarily living in a domestic violence shelter with his mother wrote a heartbreaking letter to Santa with a plea for books and a "very, very good dad."
The boy's mother said she found the letter in her son's backpack, according to the nonprofit organization that runs the shelter called SafeHaven of Tarrant County.
The young boy's letter describes the recent situation they were facing:
"Dear Santa,
We had to leave our house. Dad was mad. We had to do all the chores. Dad get everything he wanted. Mom said it was time to leave and she would take us to a safer place where we don't have to be scared. I'm still nervous. I don't want to talk to the other kids. Are you going to come this Christmas? We don't have any of our stuff here. Can you bring some chapter books, a dictionary, and a compass and a watch? I also want a very very very good dad. Can you do that too?
Love, Blake."
The shelter uploaded a photo of the letter on its Facebook page on Wednesday and it has since been shared over 2,000 times.
The letter went viral and has touched the hearts of thousands. The shelter has received many donations of holiday presents for the kids staying in the shelter, according to TODAY.com, including everything Blake asked for.
