The Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning about hand sanitizer, saying that some brands may be toxic. According to the FDA, some sanitizers contain methanol, or wood alcohol, which is potentially toxic when absorbed through the skin or swallowed.
The FDA also mentioned a Mexico-based producer, Eskbiochem SA de CV, and requested that the manufacturer remove its “potentially dangerous products” from store shelves in the United States.
