In a special meeting which started this morning at 9am, Collier County Commissioners listened to arguments on whether to close Collier County beaches for the Fourth Of July weekend. It was noted that with Miami closing their beaches that if Collier kept their beaches open we would be “inundated with Miami Dade County residents”.
A decision, at the time of this post, has not been made. It was stated during the meeting that a decision will be made today.
UPDATE: Collier County beaches will be closed this weekend from 11a-5p on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The beaches will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. then again from 5 p.m. to dusk from Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5.
In addition, visitors are required to have county or city parking stickers.
This is all in response to the beach closures in Miami.
