Mr. Potato Head will now become known as Potato Head.

Hasbro, the company that makes the potato-shaped plastic toy, announced on Thursday the new name will appear on boxes this year.

“Hasbro is making sure all feel welcome in the Potato Head world by officially dropping the Mr. from the Mr. Potato Head brand name and logo to promote gender equality and inclusion,” The company said in a statement. 

The name change will come with a fresh branding look with a whimsical color palette and more inclusive messaging along with a new product to appeal to the modern consumer.

The company will also launch the “Create Your Potato Head Family” which allows kids to create their own Potato Head family with 2 large potato bodies, 1 small potato body, and 42 accessories, their potato family can have up to 2 parents, and a baby.

Toymakers have been updating their classic brands. For example, Barbie is no longer blonde and now comes in multiple skin tones and body shapes.

Thomas the Tank has added more girl characters and American Girl is now selling a boy doll.

Hasbro said the 70-year-old needed a modern makeover.
