Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd is warning everybody to avoid the “your-grandchild-is-in jail” scheme because it is alive and well! Polk county seniors have been losing tens of thousand of dollars in the past couple of days.
Sheriff Judd says “We don’t call you up on the phone and say either pay us or we’re going to come arrest you. No one does that except crooks.” Two grandmothers have fell for this scheme and now they are out of $67K
Why do they mess with grandmas... its my only question. Messing with grandmas period is heartbreaking of course they are going to fall for these scams. They are not going to react any other way if you tell them you have their grandchild is in jail.
This is why grandkids and any relatives always got to fill grandma in on anything you hear is going on that can affect them. Because its stories like this that just break your heart when you find out someone's grandma has probably lost all their life savings due to fraud while trying to save you.
