A woman is facing kidnapping charges after allegedly stealing a car in Sebring with the owner’s two children still inside, according to WFLA News Channel 8.
The children’s mother said she left the car running while she went inside the Subway to get something to eat.
She told officials she didn’t see anyone get into the car but saw it leaving the parking lot with her two boys, ages 2 and 6-months-old still inside.
Shauna Marie McGraw, 36, is accused of driving the vehicle a short distance and then abandoning it and the children behind a business, officials said.
The children were not harmed during the incident.
McGraw was arrested and faces two counts of kidnapping, two counts of child neglect without great bodily harm, and one count of grand theft of a motor vehicle.
A lot can happen in seconds and especially if the car was running. It’s hard to believe someone would just get into a car like that to steal it.
