But The Albany Times Union reports that police are no longer seizing marijuana, making arrests, or issuing tickets for low-level possession in New York airports. You can board a plane in New York with weed. Crazy.
Low-level possession means anything three ounces or less, the legal limit.
Authorities are instead going to shift their focus to guns, knives and explosives. The TSA is still required to notify the police if they find your stash, but the Albany County Sheriff says they will take no action if it’s less than 3 oz.
You still can’t smoke it on the plane, however, but maybe the days of stashing edibles gummies in a Flintstone’s Vitamins container are done. Not that I’ve ever done that, of course. That was illegal.
