Netflix “Florida Man” Series Being Filmed in North Carolina
Netflix new action drama ‘ Florida Man ‘ has begun filming but not in Florida. Wait? What? Why? The Florida Man series, which is scheduled to be 8 hour long episodes on Netflix, has begun filming in North Carolina.
Seldom have I been so OUTRAGED as when I spotted this headline today -- Netflix is filming a show called "#Florida Man" someplace other than #Florida! I say we retaliate by filming a show about North Carolinians in Panama City! pic.twitter.com/kFyQhnqG5Y

The announcement was made by the town of Carolina Beach’s facebook page as they announced areas that would be closed for filming.
According to IMDB: In Florida Man, created by Todd, when a struggling ex-cop (Ramírez) is forced to return to his home state of Florida to find a Philly mobster’s runaway girlfriend, what should be a quick gig becomes a spiraling journey into buried family secrets and an increasingly futile attempt to do the right thing in a place where so much is wrong. The series is described as a wild odyssey into a sunny place for shady people in the spirit of Body Heat and Elmore Leonard’s Out of Sight.—Nellie Andreeva
I do like the line ‘a sunny place for shady people’ but that still doesn’t explain why a movie about Florida isn’t filmed in Florida.
Florida man stars Edgar Ramírez who was also in Disney’s Jungle Cruise and will play Atlas in the new Borderlands movie. Florida Man is being produced by Aggregate Films, the same group behind Ozark.
