Taylor Swift & Drake Rumored to Make Diss Track Aimed at Kanye & Kim
Taylor Swift attends 'In Conversation With... Taylor Swift' during the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival at TIFF Bell Lightbox on September 09, 2022 in Toronto, Ontario. Drake attends the "Top Boy" UK Premiere at Hackney Picturehouse on September 04, 2019 in London, England.
Taylor Swift is trying to get her “big reputation” back with the help of a friend. Per a gossip piece in The Sun, Swift teamed up with Drake and the two recorded a secret song together during sessions for her 2017 album Reputation. The song didn’t make the cut because it was deemed to be too direct about their mutual foes at the time, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.
However, they now risk reigniting the drama between them, as Taylor apparently wants to include it when she re-releases the record as Reputation (Taylor’s Version). As Taylor is re-recording her masters from her vault, this track with the “Falling Back” rapper has never been heard by the public.
A music insider told the publication, “Taylor has pivoted her focus to re-recording Reputation and she has come across this song she made with Drake, which never saw the light of day. She knows that everyone is going to think it is about Kimye because it was her row with them which inspired a lot of Reputation. But this one is far more direct than the other songs, which was why they didn’t decide to release it in the first place. It’s no secret that both Taylor and Drake have had tumultuous relationships with Kanye, so they didn’t hold back when it came to recording. Obviously, she is totally over the whole thing now but this is one which fans will want to hear.”
Taylor fell out with Kanye when he claimed “I made that bitch famous” on his 2016 song “Famous.” After Swift, 32, expressed her outrage, Kim leaked a recording of the musicians discussing the song. However, it was later revealed that Taylor wasn’t explicitly told that Ye was going to be rapping specifically about her.
Later this month, Swift is set to release her ninth studio album, Midnights. In a TikTok series titled, “Midnights Mayhem with Me,” Swift has been revealing track titles on the upcoming album via a bingo ball cage. So far, the following tracks have been revealed as of this week: 2. “Maroon,” 3. “Anti-Hero,” 6. “Midnight Rain,” 7. “Question…?,” 8. “Vigilante S—” and 13. “Mastermind.” Reputation (Taylor’s Version) is expected to follow next year.
Midnights will be released on October 21.
Fans React To Taylor Swift's 'Midnights' Announcement
Last night, Taylor Swift announced her upcoming full-length album, Midnights, last night following her win for Video of the Year at the 2022 MTV VMAs. “My brand new album comes out October 21,” she announced, as she accepted the award. “And I will tell you more at midnight.”
That happened at shortly after 11 pm ET, and at midnight ET, Swift took to social media to reveal a bit more about her next full-length album, along with a message: “We lie awake in love and in fear, in turmoil and in tears. We stare at walls and drink until they speak back. We twist in our self-made cages and pray that we aren’t – right this minute – about to make some fateful life-altering mistake.
This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching – hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve… we’ll meet ourselves.
Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21. Meet me at midnight.” The tracklisting, mysteriously, was a list of track numbers: “Track One,” “Track Two,” “Track Three,” “Track Four,” “Track Five,” “Track Six,” “Track Seven,” “Track Eight,” “Track Nine,” “Track Ten,” “Track Eleven,” “Track Twelve” and “Track Thirteen.” Those could be the actual song titles, or she could be waiting to reveal the song titles at a later time.
Swifties took to Twitter to express their shock and joy for new music.
