Kanye: Lawyer Warns That He Could Lose Custody Of His Kids
Kanye West claims that his former lawyer warned him that his business deals would not be the only thing he could lose due to his antisemitic remarks.
The controversial rapper claimed on Tuesday (Nov. 1) that his former lawyer warned him that his racist remarks could cost him the custody of his four children that he shares with his estranged wife Kim Kardashian.
“On my last and final meeting with Bob Cohen, he told me ‘if I keep up antisemitic rhetoric you’ll loose [sic] custody of your children,'” Ye wrote on his Parler account per AllHipHop. The rapper expressed interest in purchasing the conservative social media platform last month.
“So let me get this straight If I complain about Jewish business practices it’s considered antisemitic. So, my custody lawyer was basically telling me if you complain about getting done wrong in business you will loose [sic] custody of your children, and this was the guy on my side.”
Cohen and Bernard Clair from Cohen Clair Lans Griefer Thorpe & Rottenstreich LLP (who are both Jewish), dropped Kanye West as a client last month due to his antisemitic remarks.
“The firm is no longer representing Kanye West,” a source told Page Six. Beverly Hills lawyer Nick Salick is still repping the rapper, per gossip site TMZ. According to the tabloid, Salick is “trying to work out both a custody and property settlement agreement with Kim’s longtime divorce lawyer, Laura Wasser.” The goal is to avert a trial that is scheduled for December.
Kim and Kanye got married in May 2014. They share four children together: North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, Psalm, 3. Kardashian filed for divorce from Ye last February.
