Meet Kevin Dean Jones, a Florida man who had a rather unusual vacation planned. Instead of lounging on a beach, he had planned to spend his time abroad watching his ex-partner die from ricin poisoning.
But where did Jones get the idea to use ricin as a murder weapon, you may ask? Well, it turns out he had a bit of a thing for castor oil beans. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, ricin can kill cells by preventing them from making proteins and there is no known antidote. But Jones didn’t let that stop him from experimenting with the deadly toxin.
Water Gun Poison Plot:
Jones, who apparently had a love for water guns, decided to test out his ricin delivery method using water guns to ensure they wouldn’t leak when he sprayed his ex in the face. Talk about attention to detail! He even went as far as to purchase several items from the internet to make the ricin.
But Jones’ plans were foiled when law enforcement caught wind of his intentions, stopped him and found a plastic water gun, five tubes filled with ricin and castor beans, along with documents and ammunition in his possession. Not to mention, Jones was a convicted felon and had a collection of weapons and ammunition stored in a unit under his name.
Kissimmee Florida Man:
According to WFLA, Jones pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing ricin and for possessing two firearms as a convicted felon. U.S. District Judge Wendy W. Berger sentenced him to 10 years in prison and ordered him to forfeit his guns. So much for that dream vacation.
It’s safe to say that Jones’ idea of a vacation is a bit different from the average person’s. While most of us are content with a trip to the beach, Jones had something much more sinister in mind. Instead of sipping fruity drinks and soaking up the sun, he had planned to watch his ex-partner slowly die from ricin poisoning. But thankfully, his plans were foiled and he’ll be spending the next decade behind bars, away from society and any potential ricin victims.
