Savvy Super Bowl Shoppers Rejoice: Chicken Wings, Guacamole Cost Less.
Yo, football fans! Listen up, I’ve got some good news for y’all. The high inflation ain’t gonna ruin your Super Bowl party this year, ’cause according to this report from Wells Fargo, some of the staple foods you love to munch on during the game, like chicken wings and guac, they’re gonna cost less! Ain’t that sweet? The chicken wings, they’re even cheaper than last year, only $2.65 per pound now. And avocados, the MVP of guac, they’re 20% cheaper ’cause of a strong crop.
But why, you ask? Well, it’s all about the supply chain, baby! According to USA TODAY, with better transportation, truck costs and diesel prices are down, and there’s even better staffing in the factories, so everything’s flowing smoother. And sirloin steaks, they’re cheaper too, almost a dollar per pound cheaper since last December!
Now, I got some bad news for you beer drinkers out there, beer’s 11% more expensive than last year, and wine’s gone up 4% and spirits 2%. And soda, that’s 25% more expensive ’cause of ingredient and shipping costs. But, you know what they say, ‘the big ticket items will outweigh the small stuff.’ So, you’ll still end up spending less on the grocery bill for the Super Bowl this year compared to last year.
And Michael Swanson, Wells Fargo’s chief agricultural economist, he says we’re getting back to a normal supply chain, which is great news as we move into 2023. So, grab your favorite drinks and foods and let’s enjoy the game together!
