Dog Opinion: Florida Bill Threatens to Take Away Dogs’ Favorite Pastime
Brace yourselves for some ruff news. It looks like joyrides with our humans are about to become a thing of the past. That’s right, a new bill introduced to the Florida Senate is threatening to take away one of our favorite pastimes! Sticking our heads out of car windows!
According to people news NBC2, It’s called SB 932. Or as we like to call it, the “Canine Cruelty” bill. The bill proposes to make several pooch practices illegal. This includes riding on the driver’s lap! We love that! Also, riding on the front of a motorcycle! That’s when we feel bad to the bone. With a bone! But the real kicker is that the bill also aims to take away our God-given right… Feeling the wind in our fur.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: “What’s the big deal? I’ll just stick my head out of the crate or harness.” But let me tell you, it’s just not the same. There’s something about the rush of air against our flapping jowls that just can’t be replicated by sitting in a stuffy crate or harness. Plus, how are we supposed to catch all those delicious smells in the drive thru if we’re stuck in a crate?
Florida Bill:
Sure, the bill offers the option of a car-approved harness or pet seat belt, but let’s be real, those things are just plain uncomfortable. And don’t even get me started on having another passenger restrain us for the duration of the trip. Talk about a buzzkill.
So, if this bill passes, it looks like we’ll just have to accept that car rides will never be the same. No more wind in our fur, no more catching smells, no more barking at passing dogs. It’s a sad day for us doggos, but hey, at least we’ll still have our treats and belly rubs.
