The city of Cape Coral has a new superhero, and his name is Police Officer Brice Bearman! This fearless protector of the peace has been awarded the Lifesaving Award by the Cape Coral Police Department for saving a drowning man’s life. Move over, Aquaman, there’s a new hero in town, and he’s got a badge!
According to ABC7, it all started when Officer Bearman responded to a call in the 500 block of SW 8th Place. A man was struggling to stay afloat while holding onto his boat. Now, I’m not one to brag, but I’m pretty sure that most people in that situation would panic and start flailing around like a beached whale. But not Officer Bearman! He sprang into action and jumped in the water faster than Michael Phelps off the starting block!
With nerves of steel and muscles of iron, Officer Bearman pulled the man and his boat to the canal bank, where Lee County Emergency Medical Services assisted. The man later revealed that he fell into the canal while trying to untangle a line, and he inflated his life vest and held onto the boat to stay above water. Talk about quick thinking! If he hadn’t done that, he might have ended up fish food!
Cape Coral Police Officer:
Of course, Officer Bearman is far too humble to call himself a hero. But let’s be real, this man is a legend! He’s the kind of guy who makes you want to stand up and salute. Makes you feel pride! The kind of guy who makes you want to wear a cape and fly around the city, fighting crime and saving lives! Okay, maybe that last one is just me, but you get the idea.
So let’s all give a big round of applause to Officer Brice Bearman, the Cape Coral hero who dove in headfirst (literally!) to save a man’s life. If anyone needs me, I’ll be standing on my balcony, watching for the Bat-Signal…I mean, the Officer Bearman Signal!
