Family Members Scattering Dead Relative’s Ashes On Disney World Rides Is A “Common Occurrence”
Ok, before you consider this – just stop. I thought this was just a rumor, but according to one former Disney World cast member, they catch people scattering dead relative’s ashes on Disney World rides “Once every three months and then multiple times during Halloween season.” This falls into the “What The Florida” category for sure.
I checked the Disney World Orlando prohibited items list, and cremated relatives isn’t on it. But there is one line in the rules that fits this activity.
- Engaging in any unsafe act or other act that may impede the operation of the Walt Disney World Resort or any part thereof.
I think scattering ashes on a ride falls into this category. The Haunted Mansion ride seems to be one of the favorites for this activity. But, as this former cast member explains. Trying to throw out ashes off a moving ride can go horribly wrong.

I love the smug delivery of the line “face full of Uncle Jack.”
So take note. Before you consider spreading loved one’s ashes off Disney World rides, know that a HAZMAT team will vacuum them up and put them in the dumpster. I’m not sure that’s what Grandma had in mind.
Side note to Disney, there’s probably a way to deal with this. Designate a spot and let people scatter ashes. Charge for it. Boom. Problem solved.
