Katharine McPhee Cancels Performances Amid ‘Horrible Tragedy’
Katharine McPhee has canceled her final two guest performances with her husband David Foster. The American Idol alum announced on her Instagram Friday (August 11) that she can’t continue in the remaining shows of the David Foster & Friends Asia Tour 2023. In a note addressed to Jakarta fans, McPhee, 39, wrote: “David and I have had a horrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us needs to get back home to our family.”
Though she didn’t give specific details about what happened, she apologized to her fans. “Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return someday and perform for you all.” Several of the singer’s friends shared well wishes in the comments section. Nicole Scherzinger wrote, “Sending my love and prayers for your family [praying hands and heart emojis].” Linda Thompson, who was previously married to Foster, commented, “Sending you and David love, & hoping that everything is OK [praying hands a heart emojis].” The Talk co-host Amanda Kloots also wrote, “Sending you loads of love. I’m thinking of you guys.”
Foster, 73, will continue performing on the final two shows of the Asia tour, which are scheduled in Jakarta’s Sentul International Convention Centre today and tomorrow. The musician has not publicly commented on the tragedy as of our posting. Following the Jakarta performance, the couple was to take a three-month break from the tour before continuing performances in the US in Michigan on November 1.
