Florida Man Arrested After Movie Theater Brawl Over Seats
When you go see a movie in the theater, where you sit is key and one Florida man in Pompano Beach has been arrested after a brawl over seats.
When I go to a movie, I like to sit in the middle of the theater in the middle of the row. If you buy tickets online, you’re able to, in most cases, choose your seat. But if you walk up and buy a ticket from the box office, it’s a different story. The last time I went and saw a movie, it was Sound of Freedom at the Regal Bell Tower. Of all the open seats in the theater, which there were easily 20-30 open, a woman walked up and sat right next to me. So close I could hear her chewing her popcorn, one morsel at a time. I wanted to ask her if she could kindly move, but all it takes is one Karen to start a fight. I wasn’t taking my chances.
It was a different story with one Florida man.
WFLA reports that 27-year-old Jesse Montez Thorton II was at the AMC Pompano Beach theater on July 10 and attacked a 63-year-old man. Why? Well, the victim told police that he bought VIP tickets. When he walked in and saw others sitting in his seat, he politely asked them to move. No matter how nice he was, Thornton didn’t like being disturbed. It was then that he stood up, got in the victim’s face and began punching him repeatedly in the face. Other moviegoers did step in and help diffuse the situation. But the victim did suffer multiple injuries to his head and face and he was taken to a hospital.
As all things are nowadays, the attack was caught on video. But that video helped detectives track down Thornton, who they found in Fort Lauderdale. He has been arrested and is facing charges of aggravated battery with great bodily harm.
