If you’re in Southwest Florida and have been wanting to take a trip to Puerto Rico, there’s a new non-stop flight option coming to RSW this winter.
I’ve been interested in visiting Puerto Rico for awhile, but flying out of Fort Myers, there really haven’t been any great options. If you don’t mind a connecting flight, you can get there, but with the layover it can make a quick under 3 hour flight, turn into 8 really quick. I’ve looked at flying to San Juan from Miami or Fort Lauderdale, but of course from Southwest Florida, it may be cheaper, but you’re adding a 2+ hour drive to your travel days.
Non-Stop Flight Service To Puerto Rico Coming To RSW
Whether you’re going to visit family and friends or just wanting to experience a new place like me, there will soon be a non-stop flight out of RSW to Puerto Rico. According to Simple Flying, the new route will start December 15 from RSW in Fort Myers to Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport in San Juan with four flights each week. The flight is just a quick 2 hours and 45 minutes and will fly Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
As is true for most Spirit flights, the fares are relatively inexpensive. Just to see for myself, I put in a departure after the holidays on 1/13 (a Saturday) and a return the following Saturday on 1/20 and it came to $198. Sprit does charge for bags and seat selection, but even so, your non-stop round trip flight in total will be less than $300. Not bad at all!
