Florida Man Arrested After Stealing $1.6 Million Worth Of Liquor
No matter how thirsty you are, let this be a warning as one Florida man finds himself in a boozy bind after stealing $1.6 million worth of liquor.
After a long day, I can understand how one may reach for a beer or two. But 33 year-old Miguel Angel Artiles Rivas reached for a whole lot more than that. It’s reported that the theft took place between July 7-July 10. Rivas was part of a group of people who entered a liquor distribution warehouse in Gibsonton. They weren’t going in for a tour or just to take a look around. According to a press release by the HCSO, over the 3 days the group stole about $1.6 million in liquor. To do so, they used at least two semi trucks.
It was the collaboration of the Florida Highway Patrol along with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies that put an end to this spirited heist. Not only were they able to track down the trucks used in the theft. But they were also able to locate the storage facility where the liquor was being kept in Hialeah. The stolen liquor was recovered and returned.
Rivas was arrested.
For stealing the liquor, this Florida man was charged with Burglary More than $1,000.00 Damage and Grand Theft $100,000 or More.
There is an arrest warrant out for 54 year-old Ruth Melly Cardero, as she was also involved in the theft. If you have any information on her whereabouts, you’re encouraged contact HCSO at 813-247-8200.
