Dua Lipa And Kylie Minogue Are 2 Of Time’s Most Influential Of 2024

Time magazine has announced their picks of the Most Influential People of 2024. Among the honored people to be chosen are pop stars Dua Lipa and Kylie Minogue. The two have actually collaborated before in 2020 for a disco track called "Real Groove."

The Time tribute to Dua Lipa, whose third studio album Radical Optimism is coming out on Friday, May 3, was written by her "dear friend and hero," singer-songwriter Patti Smith. Smith, 77, gushed about how Dua, 28, is "bold, playful, and self-aware" in a world that is so heavy.

The "Gloria" singer goes on to say that the English-Albanian singer is grounded by the support of her family yet is "driven, independent, and possesses a desire for knowledge." What sets Dua Lipa apart from the rest of the pop artists is that she is mindful of the world around her.

Lipa told Time in an interview that this is the "most confident" she feels in her life. From when she first ventured to become a music artist at 15 years old, Dua says she can see how much she's grown as a songwriter. Ahead of the release of Radical Optimism, Dua has dropped three tracks: "Houdini," "Training Season," and "Illusion."

Kylie Minogue's latest resurgence into modern pop music was her song "Padam Padam." Her Time feature was written by Coldplay's Chris Martin. Martin revealed that he has long been a fan of Minogue's since her acting days on the Australian soap opera Neighbours. He told the publication, "Kylie is so inspiring to me—she lives her life so gracefully and approaches every project with such passion and dedication."

The Australian singer, 55, first gained popularity in the pop realm back in 1987 with “The Loco-motion” and then again in 2001 with her hit “Can’t Get You Out of My Head." Last year, Minogue dropped “Padam Padam,” an electropop song that established her as the fourth female solo artist to have a top-ten single in her 50s, joining Lulu, Diana Ross, and Cher.

The venue first opened in Las Vegas in September 2023, snagging U2 with an ongoing concert residency starting on September 29 and running through March 2. The Sphere’s LED screen inside the theater is 160,000 square feet, boasting 16,000 pixels by 16,000 pixels — the highest resolution in the world. Also featuring 1,600 speaker panels using spatial audio through the screen without any visible speakers in the auditorium, the venue makes those in attendance fully immersed in sound and visuals. The arena can hold up to 18,600 guests in the auditorium. It is no wonder why the company wants to expand, as it is clearly leading the entertainment industry in the right direction.

Besides U2, rumors of Beyoncé planning a Las Vegas residency at the Sphere swirled after her Super Bowl country album announcement in which she sat atop the glowing globe. Partnering with Verizon in the $50 million advertisement, the "Texas Hold 'Em" singer tries to break the internet over and over again. Taking on different personas and skills, she opens a lemonade stand, drops a "saxy" album, becomes a Twitch gamer by the handle @IamSlayoncé, a Beyonc-AI double, Bar-Bey, running for "BOTUS," on top of the Sphere atop a silver horse, and the first woman to launch the first rocket to the first performance in space. The commercial concluded by cryptically teasing the release of "new music," Beyoncé's country album, Act II, on March 29th.
