Naples Police Save 6 Puppies from Sweltering Heat
It was a scorching hot day when the Naples Police got a call about some shady business down at the Naples Pier this past Sunday afternoon. Apparently, some knuckleheads were trying to make a quick buck by selling puppies at the beach. Now, who doesn’t love puppies, right? But there’s a time and a place for everything.
According to a Facebook post from the Naples police, Ernest Augustin from Immokalee, and Mariel Palominoca Campos and Yuniesky Campos Hartman from Cape Coral, thought it was a good idea to bring a cart full of puppies to the beach. A reporter saw them and tipped off the cops, saying these guys were trying to peddle the puppies to beachgoers.
When the Naples Police showed up, they found the suspects pulling a wagon with the little guys inside, covered up with a blanket. Now, it’s July in Florida, under a Heat Advisory no less, with the heat index sitting at a insane 110 degrees. These puppies were basically baking under there, trying to breathe.
Naples Police To The Rescue:
The cops took a look under the blanket and found six puppies. Two of them were in rough shape, barely breathing and on the verge of passing out from the heat. The officers wasted no time. They scooped up the pups, put them in the patrol car with the AC blasting and gave them some water. After about 20 minutes, the little furballs started to perk up.
Animal Services came to check on the pups and took them in for some medical attention. It was clear the puppies had been treated poorly. The suspects had plenty of chances to give the dogs some water or shade, but they didn’t. So, what happens when you mess with innocent puppies? You get busted. Good job Naples Police. Ernest, Mariel, and Yuniesky got slapped with first-degree misdemeanor charges for animal cruelty. Idiots.
