The Toughest Tourist Destinations To Get Good Sleep
What are the toughest tourist destinations to get good sleep? A new study has the answers, and if you’re hoping to relax on vacation you might want to avoid these places!
Sometimes, you go on a vacation expecting to get no sleep. You’re going to be up late and you can catch up on sleep next week. However, sometimes you might want to get away on a relaxing vacation to rest up and catch up on your Z’s. There are great places to accomplish that, and there are destinations where it’s nearly impossible to get good sleep. It’s important to know what you’re getting yourself into!
What Are The Worst Places For Getting Good Sleep?
If you want a peaceful vacation, places like Bora Bora and Hawaii might be good places to look into. You can find private resorts that are far from civilization and the noise of the city. Lots of factors can go into getting good sleep on vacation. There’s the noise outside your hotel or room, lights, bad hotels, a lot of people, and more.
Now, a new study by Onebed has evaluated some of the most popular tourist destinations in the world and found where it’s the most challenging to get good sleep. To find the answers they were looking for, they considered five key factors: average noise levels in decibels, the percentage of negative hotel reviews focused on sleep quality, the air quality index, the number of tourists, and nightclub working hours. Those will all certainly challenge your quality of sleep. A lot of noise will keep you up all night. The right hotel choice is also very important. Likewise, having good air quality is important and likely overlooked. How many people are coming and going in the area can also have an impact on your sleep. Then, if nightclubs are going all night, you’re going to hear people outside in the early hours of the morning, and depending on where they are, they might even be shaking your room! You don’t want that!
When the data was analyzed, Onebed was able to determine the toughest tourist destinations for getting quality sleep. Their study found that Hong Kong was the most sleep-disruptive destination in the world. It sounds like it has incredibly high noise levels and roughly 73% of negative hotel reviews regarding sleep quality. That sounds awful! Granted, if you look up pictures of Hong Kong, it’s easy to see that it’s a crowded place and the air quality might not be the best. That could lead to a terrible sleep.
Cancun, Mexico, came in second on Onebed’s list of destinations where it’s tough to get a good rest. The nightlife there is some of the best in the world and it can be hard to sleep while people are out there partying all night long. It’s a great time if you’re joining the party, but escaping it can be very hard to do.
In 3rd on Onebed‘s study was Las Vegas, Nevada. If you’ve ever been you fully understand how it’s tough to get sleep. You can’t even tell what time it is when you’re inside the casino–and it’s intended to be that way. There’s all the lights, the sounds, the people! You’re not going to Vegas for a good night’s sleep. That would not be a good decision. Other cities that were named in Onebed‘s study were Shanghai, China; Istanbul, Turkey; Marrakech, Morocco; and Cairo, Egypt.
Where would you suggest people not go if they’re looking to get good sleep on vacation?
