New Flights And Big Sales From RSW

Travel is top of mind for many people during the holidays. Things are getting a little easier if you travel from Fort Myers. There are new flights and big sales from RSW this week. They are courtesy of Ultra-low fare carrier Frontier Airlines’

First, the big sale. It's that time of year to purchase the 2025-2026 GoWild! All-You-Can-Fly Annual Pass. The pass is on sale for just $299 and for two days only.

If you want a GoWild! Pass for nearly half-price you need to purchase it by 11.59pm MT on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. After that, the pass will be available at a discounted price of $499.

“The GoWild! Pass is perfect for spontaneous adventurers, budget-savvy travelers, and anyone dreaming of limitless journeys,” said Bobby Schroeter, Chief Commercial Officer of Frontier Airlines.

The GoWild! All-You-Can-Fly Annual Pass that is on sale allows you to fly as much as you want, all year long to anywhere Frontier flies. That includes international destinations.

Flying domestic, you can even book the day before departure if seats are available. New this year, GoWild! passholders can earn FRONTIER Miles on purchases like bags and seat assignments. In addition, you can now extend the expiration of FRONTIER Miles through pass usage.

Keep in mind there are some restrictions and blackout periods so read the fine print. The pass does not include bags and seat assignments and you will still need to pay applicable taxes. The 2025-2026 annual pass is valid for travel between May 1, 2025, and April 30, 2026.

Next, this week Frontier begins a nonstop service today from Southwest Florida International Airport to Chicago O’Hare International Airport. To celebrate, they're offering fares as low as $29. That's a great deal if you can score a reservation. With this new service, Frontier will serve 12 destinations from RSW.

I do a lot driving through Central Florida and I'm always looking for places to pull over for a break and a bite. It's the inspiration for my dining series, Favorite Florida Pit Stops and I have a new one to share. Wild Turkey Tavern in Avon Park is oh-so Florida and lots of fun.

Wild Turkey Tavern, referred to simply as "The Turkey" by locals and regulars, is hard to miss on U.S. Highway 27 despite the camouflage paint on the building. The T-Rex keeping guard outside is another head turning giveaway. It's become one of those iconic roadside spots our state is so well known for.

The Turkey the has been serving up Florida inspired cuisine for nearly 45 years. The menu has Florida specialties such as gator tail, grouper bites, fried oysters, and frog legs. It also has lots of Southern goodies the likes of fried green tomatoes, pickles and okra.

The turkey burger is not ground turkey. It's ground beef with slices of smoked turkey on it. The Turkey is also open for breakfast.

The entrances is found underneath the thatched roof that covers a large outdoor patio. It has lots of tables, firepits and televisions.

Inside you will find walls lined with taxidermy that does indeed include a turkey or two. You'll also see fish, wild boar heads and more. There is a lot to look at and keep you entertained if you dine indoors.

My friends and I had a great time. The ones who weren't driving had cold beers and we were all entertained by the irreverent signs found here. It's a right of passage to pose with the T-Rex in the front. If you are traveling to Orlando and take 27, plan to stop here for some fun and delicious comfort food.
