Work began at Cape Coral Animal Shelter last week on the 19,000-square-foot addition that will make the facility three times larger.
The project will turn the existing building into a bigger low-cost vet clinic.
New recovery areas, training rooms, and adoption spaces will fill the bigger building. Local veterinarians will team up with shelter staff to give great medical care.
They are also adding a community room. This room will be an all-purpose room for daily operations, community events, educational classes, and even birthday parties.
People can help out through the shelter's new sponsorship program. Those who donate can put their names on different areas — from exam rooms to individual kennels.
