Thousands of residents had been ordered to evacuate after two dams in Sanford and Edenville collapsed causing floodwaters from the Tittabawassee River gushing into nearby communities.

Now, as the floodwaters begin to recede, residents are returning to assess the damage and begin to rebuild.
