It’s the last weekend in August and we are going out with a bang. Literally. Fireworks, 5Ks and $4 movies; Southwest Florida Weekend Vibes are here for August 25-27.
We are days away from the 11 month anniversary date of Hurricane Ian. The process began this week of replenishing sand on Sanibel Island that was washed away by the storm. The beaches are open and Lee County officials are lifting the $6 toll on the causeway this Sunday and also for numerous Sundays to follow. They want to encourage locals to rediscover the island post Hurricane Ian. Businesses are reopening and are needing additional support to stay open in this traditionally slow summer season.
However, if you prefer to say inside in the air conditioning Sunday is going to be a good day for you. It is National Cinema Day. Theaters all over Southwest Florida are offering movies for $4, even on the weekend’s new releases and block busters such as Barbie. Find out more here or scroll down to see which local theaters are participating in the party.
Also inside and under AC is a big Home and Garden Show in downtown Fort Myers. This event always draws a crowd and there is something for almost every one under this exhibition roof. Perhaps you will get inspired to remodel or improve your living space while walking the aisles and watching the demonstrations taking place here Saturday and Sunday.
If you have any upcoming events you would like to share, please send them here. Fireworks, 5Ks and $4 movies; Southwest Florida Weekend Vibes are here for August 25-27. Get out and have some fun this weekend.
