Fall Checklist and Things to Do This Season
Fall means the end of hot summer days and warm nights, but it also brings its own charm. I’m more of a summer girl, but even I have to admit that there’s lots to like about the fall months. You won’t be short of things to do during the months of September, October and November, either. Here’s your fall checklist and things to love about the season.
Fall Checklist and Things to Do
Go Apple Picking
Depending on where you live in the country, you might have so-called “cider mills” around that offer all kinds of fall fun, such as apple picking, fresh donuts, sunflower patches, farm tours and more. It’s one of the most popular things to do this time of year. I personally love apple picking and visiting a pumpkin patch in September or October. By October, a lot of the pumpkins are picked over, though, so if you want the biggest and best, get there earlier.
Go to a Haunted House
Fall is the Halloween season, and you really haven’t experienced Halloween until you’ve been to a haunted house. No matter where you live, chances are, there’s a haunted house within driving distance of you. Many farms run haunted corn mazes during the fall months, too, which can be fun and a great way to be outside in the crisp weather. If you don’t want to get scared, there are also non-haunted corn mazes.
Have Pumpkin Spice Everything
Pumpkin spice has become almost a joke at this point. But, there’s no denying that pumpkin spice is everywhere, from lattes to scented candles to cookies. So, I say, why fight it? Pumpkin spice isn’t going anywhere, so give it a try when you see it as an option out and about. Or, make your own. I personally love pumpkin spice cake with vanilla frosting. The more spice, the better.
Roast Marshmallows and Make S’mores
Sure, you can roast marshmallows and make s’mores during the summer months while camping. But, there’s something extra special about doing that in the fall. Sitting around a bonfire and roasting marshmallows can make for a super cozy night. I, personally, like using dark chocolate with the s’mores, so you might want to give that a try.
Go on a Fall Hike and See Fall Colors
Hiking isn’t just for the summer months. In fact, going on a nature hike in the fall can be even more enjoyable than taking one it in the summer, because you get to see all the beautiful fall colors. Really, you haven’t fully embraced the season until you’ve seen fall colors, in all their glory, up close. It’s certainly one of the best things to do during the season.
