Southwest Florida International Airport Launches $1 Billion Expansion With 14 New Gates
A huge upgrade is happening at Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW). The $1 billion project will reshape the Fort Myers airport with a new Concourse E, adding 14 gates in the biggest update since the airport first opened its doors.
Beginning Jan. 10, 2025, construction will mean changes to how you get into the terminal. Passengers will need to use Doors 1 and 5. Staff will be there to help people find their way through the new entry points.
“All of our airlines are constantly adding new flights in new markets,” Steve Hennigan, Executive Director for Lee County Port Authority, told NBC 2 News. “One of the things with the expansion project is we need more gates to sustain that growth.”
The ground floor of the parking garage will become a transportation center. Shuttles, rental cars, and public buses will all pick up and drop off from this one location.
