Lee County unanimously voted on March 9, 2025, to end bulk waste collection. Starting June 7, public dumpster locations will reopen, saving $800,000 per year in taxpayer money.

The last bulk pickup will be June 6. During a crowded town hall, residents supported District 3 Commissioner Jeff Drury's plan to go back to dumpsters. Public dumpster sites will be open on weekends.

District 4 Commissioner Tony Langley emphasized the importance of careful monitoring to avoid accidents, while other commissioners are concerned about illegal dumping.

This change affects 7,900 customers in District 3 alone. Signs will clearly show the sites are for home use only — businesses caught dumping illegally will face tough penalties.

At the same March meeting, officials passed other changes too. They okayed online filing for business property taxes and made new rules for paving dirt roads. Now, most property owners need to ask for road improvements.

The commission also supported Clear Springs LLC's distribution hub. Their $6.2 million investment should create nine jobs by March 2026.
