A busy section of Estero Boulevard from Crescent Street to Matanzas Pass opened on March 24, 2025, marking a big improvement in Fort Myers Beach traffic flow.
The project added new pavement, bike lanes, and better water drainage. Crews put in underground pipes, storm drains, and 9-foot-wide sidewalks. Updates also include a new northbound bus stop and traffic islands. New lights at Main and Prescott Streets will help handle traffic during the busy season from January to April.
By Margaritaville, the north sidewalk remains closed until summer 2025. Beachgoers need to take a detour crossing at Crescent Street while work is being completed.
While the Estero Boulevard work is complete, there is still some ongoing work on the San Carlos Boulevard project. These improvements will help the Matanzas Pass Bridge traffic flow and add bicycle lanes.
Work on this area may continue at night, with road closures from 6 p.m. until 7 a.m.
