It’s hard not to focus on the mess that was 2020. However, there were a handful of things throughout the year that were worth remembering. Here’s a recap.
Schitt's Creek - Not only did we get the final season of Schitt's Creek this year, we got to see them dominate the 2020 Emmys. The show took home nine prizes and broke the record for most wins in a season for a comedy.
Parasite - Bong Joon Ho's film Parasite owned the 2020 Oscars and won various trophies, including Best Picture. The film also became the first non-English-language movie to win that honor.
Tiger King - While we were all sitting at home bored during quarantine, Tiger King just landed in our laps and gave us the entertainment we all deserved. And with the endless memes, jokes, spoofs, and parodies that followed, the Netflix series was the gift that kept on giving.
New Michael Jordan Memes - While it was sad to watch Michael Jordan speak during Kobe Bryant's funeral, it did give the internet a new crying meme. We also got another Jordan meme from his documentary, 'The Last Dance.'
Voting was at an all-time high - Despite anyone's political beliefs, it was nice to see the highest voter turnout in America since 1900.
Brad Pitt as Dr. Fauci - After Dr. Fauci joked that he wanted Brad Pitt to play him on SNL, Pitt delivered. Brad later received an Emmy nomination for the role.
Hamilton On Disney+ - Hamilton streaming on Disney+ instead of hitting theaters was a nice present for all Broadway fans.
Animal Adoptions - Coronavirus and quarantine lead to tons of Americans adopting pets. Adoptions were so popular that some shelters were emptied, and others had long waiting lists for people trying to get furry friends to take home.
Take-out Liquor - Sitting at home day after day in 2020 sucked, but at least some of our favorite bars began providing to-go alcohol sales. It was definitely a silver lining in 2020.
Working From Home - Remote work became a thing for millions worldwide. Working from home wasn't always easy, but doing it in sweats and PJs made it a little easier.
SpaceX Launch - On May 30, a rocket designed and built by Elon Musk's SpaceX sent two Americans into space from U.S. soil. This is the first time this was done in almost a decade.
Stanley Tucci's Skills - It was just a simple video of Stanley Tucci making a Negroni, but the soothing and sexy clip was everything we needed.
The Queen's Gambit - The Netflix series was another show that caught everyone off guard and became a hit and a favorite in 2020.
DoggFace - The video of Doggface skateboarding, lip-synching to Fleetwood Mac, and drinking Ocean Spray cranberry juice put everyone in a good mood when we all needed it the most.
