Let's be straight - when you apply for a job, the person interviewing you is totally judging you.  Not just on your skills, but your shoes, how you're dressed, do you have bad breath, probably the car you drove. Everything.  And that includes piercings, but not so much your tattoos.  30% of HR managers feel that bad breath and piercings are bigger red flags than that tat of your mom on your shoulder. Although 40% of HR managers feel that tattoos still limit your career potential (especially that gang symbol on your neck), piercings even more so.

So, tattoos have been replaced in the "job stopper" category by piercings and bad breath.  Maybe if you're looking to move on up the corporate ladder, get your tats in locations you can cover up on that interview.  And maybe a breath mint is a good idea, too.
