Miss Illinois Got Cancer At 18 Years Old And Is Speaking Out Against UV Manicures
Miss Illinois, Karolina Jasko suffered a monumental fete at the young age of 18-years-old, she was a senior at the time when she was diagnosed with melanoma.
Melanoma is a type of skin cancer and Jasko, along with her nail tech, discovered that something was wrong after seeing a black vertical line on her nail after her acrylic nails were removed. After going to the doctor Jasko found out she had skin cancer and luckily they were able to remove the nail matrix, she’ll never have a nail on her thumb but she was lucky enough to not have it amputated. Although doctors say her condition was likely genetic, UV rays could’ve brought the cancer out sooner. Jasko now speaks out about having melanoma and encourages young girls to embrace their flaws, after all, she was able to compete at a high level with hers.
Do you have a flaw that at first you were insecure about but now you embrace? How did it change you?
