Drinking Hot Tea Could Double Cancer Risk
If your beverage of choice is tea and you like to gulp that cuppa down while it’s still pretty hot, you might want to reconsider following new research.
A study reported by the American Cancer Society found that just two cups of tea at high temps could double a person’s risk of esophageal cancer. While the dangers of hot drinks and cancer have been known, scientists were able to give a specific temperature where problems begin: anything above 140 degrees. It is believed that the heat damages the esophagus in a repetitive way, similar to how smoking and acid reflux does, creating a cancer risk.
How hot do you enjoy your drinks? Will you start letting them cool first now? Which drinks can’t be enjoyed the same while cold?
You might want to let that piping hot beverage cool down a bit before you take a sip https://t.co/9YdD2ekRCF
