If you're under 21, you may no longer be able to purchase cigarettes if a new bill is passed and turns into a law.
Senators Mitch McConnell and Tim Kaine introduced a new bipartisan legislation on Monday that would raise the smoking age in the United States to the age of 21.
Turns out, several tobacco product manufacturing companies are onboard with the idea, which critics say is convenient because it gives them coverage from more aggressive enforcement.
While McConnell admits he understands the concerns, the Kentucky politician tells reporters, "Just the fact that they're for it doesn't mean it's a bad idea."
