How to Make Honey Walnut Shrimp
No need for take-out when you can make this super easy shrimp recipe at home! It is great for a dinner party because everyone will enjoy this dish.
Here is how to make it:
INGREDIENTS
1 c. water
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. walnuts
1 lb. shrimp, peeled and deveined
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
2 large eggs, beaten
1 c. cornstarch
Vegetable oil for frying
1/4 c. mayonnaise
2 tbsp. honey
2 tbsp. heavy cream
Cooked white rice, for serving
Thinly sliced green onions, for garnish
INSTRUCTIONS
First, in a small saucepan combine water and sugar, bring to a boil. Add in the walnuts and let this boil for 2 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove the walnuts and place them on a baking sheet to cool.
Second, pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and sprinkle salt and pepper over them. Put eggs in a bowl. Put cornstarch in a separate bowl. Dip the shrimp in the egg and then in the cornstarch with a coating all over.
Third, in a skillet over medium heat, add oil, and shrimp in batches to cook until golden brown. Take the shrimp out of the skillet with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel.
For the sauce, in a bowl whisk together mayonnaise, honey, and heavy cream. Place the shrimp in the sauce and serve over rice with candied walnuts and green onion.
