Dr. Anthony Fauci recently told CNN that if he was portrayed on Saturday Night Live, he hoped that Brad Pitt would be the actor to do the honors. Last night, SNL made it happen: for their cold open, Pitt played Dr. Fauci.
After some good-natured ribbing of Dr. Fauci and his boss, Pitt took off his wig, and in his own voice, said, "And to the real Dr. Fauci, thank you for your calm and your clarity in this unnerving time. And thank you to the medical workers, first responders and their families for being on the front line."
It was Pitt's second high-profile guest appearance in two weeks: he cameoed on last weekend's episode of John Krasinski's Some Good News last week.
