Del’s 24 Hour Store In East Naples Closed For Good Last Night
Del’s 24 hour, on the corner of Thomasson and Bayshore in East Naples, has closed it’s doors after more than 55 years. Del died last year, on August 15th at the age of 83, and almost exactly one year later his store has closed too.
Collier County is purchasing the property, which contains the store and additional surrounding acreage for more than $2 million. The purchase is scheduled to close Sept. 23. Exact plans for the property have not been disclosed but it’s possible that since the location is next to Naples Botanical Gardens that might play into the decision.
Del’s 24 was a true East Naples landmark. A real connection to Naples past. What’s next for the property is unknown. Could be a new opera house. Could be condos.
